about

This was a track that I'd written years before Robert and I got together to make Flat Battery's first album. I'd sat on the field outside school playing this on my guitar and singing for schoolmates. A personal favourite of many of the friends who've supported Flat Battery over the years!

There wasn't really any improvisation on this track, but Robert did add in the soothing and peaceful sound of a stream in the background.

lyrics

Now we'll see
Find a dream, and
Let it all
Just float away

It's not that
I feel bad
But that I will
Never feel the same

Love me
Hold me
And never let me go
Never let me go

I wonder how
The people scream and shout
About nothing at all
Nothing at all
Yeah, and if you please
If I could just get down on my knees and pray
I'd be happy today

All I see are
Broken dreams, and
Expressions of sadness
In your mind

If there's hope
Don't let go
Believe in truth, and
Don't believe in lies

Love me
Hold me
And never let me go
Never let me go

I wonder how
The people all go around screaming and shouting
About nothing at all
Nothing at all
Yeah, and if you please
If I could just get down on my knees and pray
I'd be happy today-

Why you gotta go and go and bring me down?
Why you gotta go and go do things the right way?
I've come undone
You know you've won
When I say I give in

Oh, don't give up
There's too much...
