about

I used to have this terrible habit of dwelling on something that I didn't like to the point of obsession, whether or not I could do anything about it. Often the issue could even be resolved fairly easily, but all the obsessing would distract me from seeing that. It could often lead me into a very morose and depressed mood. This song was basically me saying 'snap out of it!' to myself.

I'm certainly in a much better place psychologically these days, and often listening to this song reminds me of how far I've come personally. A few friends have also told me they find comfort in listening to this one.

lyrics

Fist full of nothingness
Spinning around inside your head
Pieces of broken glass in your words
Making it hard to understand

This is no one's fault you see
This is how it has to be
I hope you find yourself again
My friend

Something deep inside you is
Reaching out to say that
Something far behind you should
Not be in your way, you'd
Best go and paddle on be-
Fore you should drown, oh no, in an
Ocean full of metaphors
For down

Now if there's a heaven
Couldn't honestly say
Life's only just begun
You think it's gone away

Now if you feel empty
Just fill yourself up again
Please be careful now of
Who or what you're letting in

Nobody's to blame here, this I see
Time to look at this so peacefully
I know that you will find a way
One day

Something deep inside you is
Reaching out to say that
Something far behind you should
Not be in your way, you'd
Best go and paddle on be-
Fore you should drown, oh no, in an
Ocean full of metaphors
For down

So hold right on, there's only
One way to settle this now, so
Just be strong, you've got to
Let it, let it all out

Something deep inside you is
Reaching out to say that
Something far behind you should
Not be in your way, you'd
Best go and paddle on be-
Fore you should drown, in an
Ocean

Yeah, an ocean
